My grandfather, my mother's father, passed away on February 9th, 1998. He was 93. I was unable to attend the funeral so to pay my respects, I have made this web page. Here are your flowers, grandfather, that I was unable to send.

I only saw my grandfather once a year, every year, for a week. He and my grandmother would drive to Indiana from Kansas to attend the Church of God International Camp Meetings in Anderson, Indana and would usually stay with us. I remember him being a tall distinguished figure, well dressed. Always smelled good like aftershave. As the years passed and I got older, the yearly trek made by my grandfather and grandmother slowed down and finally ceased. They didn't feel up to making the trip any more. I don't even remember the last year I saw them.

We knew he wanted to 'go home.' He was living in a nursing home. Although lovingly cared for, he missed his wife and family terribly. Shortly before his death he had lost his vision and most of his hearing. He couldn't read his beloved Book, or even listen to it on tape anymore as he had resorted to doing after his vision went. He spoke to my uncle about 'going home'...he was waiting. Waiting to join my grandmother and our Lord.

Although this is only a web page, it is the only way I know how to show how much I loved my grandfather. Pleas read the moving eulogy written by my grandfather's son, my Uncle Herbert.
