I have made three desktop themes for members of my webring, The Almost Heaven, West Virginia webring.
That is how I have begun this new section at The Mecca. I will add other themes as time goes
on, but to begin with, here are two that feature wallpaper of West Virginia scenery.
I have also made one desktop wallpaper, in light of the September 11th attack on the United States in New York. Perhaps some day I will make it into a theme. For now, I will share the beautiful wallpaper. Just click on the image as you normally would. When the larger image appears, right click and save as background, or wallpaper. It will automatically install.
These themes are made with Microsoft Plus! in mind. They will automatically install in the default directory for Plus!, however, if you have installed it elsewhere on your hard drive, you will have the opportunity to change the path.
Each theme's file can be viewed for 'Read Me' information. To do this, just go to Program Files/Plus/Themes. There you will see all the files listed for each theme. Go the the desired theme's icon that looks like a painter's palette. Highlight it, right click, and choose 'open with'. Choose your choice of editor....notepad...wordpad, whatever. WA-LAH....you can see everything that makes a theme click. Please read these. I have included copyright info for each theme. Thank you.
NOTE:
I have not installed these themes on my machine since XP came out, years ago. Let alone tested with Vista. You can try them if you like. Works great with Windows 98. The wallpaper will still work fine.

This is the first theme I made, Wildflowers. It features
a wallpaper of West Virginia Wildflowers, and Ruby, a delightful hummingbird that dances across your screen, and beautiful bird calls for sound effects. Take a look. Click on the icon for a larger view.

This is Rivermist. Rivermist was done a little differently than Wildflowers. I actually made
the desktop icons myself for it using Microangelo. The cursors are called "A Backpacker's Cursors". Things a backpacker or a camper might need, a flashlight, a match, a compass. These cursors were manufactured by Franjo Goluza, and were used with permission. Sound effects include sounds you might hear in the West Virginia forest. A bear growling, a turkey calling, a frog croaking. Download Rivermist. |

Blackwater features a beautiful wallpaper of Blackwater Falls in Blackwater State Park. Cursors are 3D green arrows. For Microsoft Plus! users.
Download Blackwater. SPECIAL! This theme is available for users without Plus! installed. A pentium class processor is required. Download Blackwater for non Plus! users! Just download to your desktop and click on the pretty pinwheel icon. |
